Nearly a dozen newly elected [HASH]HouseDemocrats wandered around the hallowed halls of the [HASH]USSenate Wednesday looking for the one person besides Donald Trump who has the power to shut down the longest shutdown in modern [HASH]USHistory: [HASH]MajorityLeader Mitch McConnell. The roaming representatives, less than two weeks into their first term, were attempting to compel McConnell do his job and hold a vote to re-open the government, which has been partially closed since December 22.
The group included [HASH]California’s Katie Hill and Mike Levin, [HASH]Illinois’ Lauren Underwood, [HASH]Michigan’s Rashida Tlaib, [HASH]Connecticut’s Jahana Hayes, and, of course, cherished [HASH]GOP villain Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of [HASH]NewYork, and it didn’t take long for people to take notice.
Ocasio-Cortez, a proven social media master, responded to [HASH]WaPo’s Seung Min Kim’s initial curious tweet with the perfect hashtag.
