Trump voter who uses [HASH]MealsOnWheels surprised by proposed cuts
One element of [HASH]President Trump’s budget proposal could sharply reduce funding for Meals on Wheels, which delivers nearly a million meals a day to the sick and elderly.
At lunchtime, Meals on Wheels volunteer Sandra Bush makes visits to 18 seniors in [HASH]Macon, [HASH]Georgia. One of them is Sandra Deshazer, who said her arthritis makes it difficult to cook.

[HASH]MealsOnWheels, financial aid, public media funding on chopping block in Trump budget
President Trump’s first budget blueprint that was released Thursday would slash funding to or completely eliminate programs that help communities have clean drinking water, provide financial aid to low-income college students and help support Meals on Wheels.
The proposal, which likely can’t get through [HASH]Congress in its current form, calls for a $54 billion increase in defense spending for fiscal year 2018. To ensure that such a boost doesn’t raise the federal deficit, Mr. Trump calls for an equal amount, or $54 billion, in cuts to non-defense domestic programs. All federal departments except the [HASH]DepartmentsofDefense, [HASH]HomelandSecurity and [HASH]VeteransAffairs would face steep cuts.
