As I type this, the [HASH]USGovernment has been shut down for almost three weeks over a spat that began over the implementation of a concrete border wall/fence of steel slats. [HASH]Democrats have submitted multiple bills to restart paying most of the 800,000 federal workers currently at risk, and have again offered $1.3 billion for border security, including the repair of the 700 miles of pedestrian and vehicle barriers that already exist, with additional staffing and electronic and aerial surveillance. Meanwhile, Trump has continued to demand his “wall,” even though border patrol officials have repeatedly said they don’t need concrete slabs.

Those 800,000 aforementioned people are being used as a political football, have already had their holidays ruined, and may now see their credit ratings, their homes, and their possessions put in very serious financial risk. Some who have been deemed “essential” and have had to continue working have resorted to random sick-outs and may even be ultimately forced to quit their government jobs, leaving critical agencies such as the [HASH]TSA and the [HASH]CoastGuard critically understaffed—all because of a petty argument over cement and steel, and a gap of $3.7 billion.

It’s ridiculous.
